Grant Award
Fellowship Farm has received a generous grant award of $27,000 from The Comcast Foundation toward its 2009 Leadership Academy in August. One of the primary initiatives of the Farm is to develop leadership potential of young people as they prepare to make positive contributions in their families, schools, in local communities and beyond.
The curriculum as developed by the Farm has been designed to immerse a deliberately diverse population of young people from a broad geographic region, aged 13 through 17, in all aspects of leadership development. Participants are exposed to a range of leadership models, leadership styles, examples of effective and inspirational leadership -- past and present, leadership opportunities, roles and responsibilities of leadership, and the opportunity to develop their own leadership profile.
Service work and carrying out leadership assignments are integral to the experience of participation in the Leadership Academy. Time is spent in processing experiences and outcomes so that learning is enhanced through group interaction and involvement in team focused activities. Individual reflection and personal journaling encourages participants to explore and maximize personal potential.
This grant from the Comcast Foundation is in recognition of Comcast's commitment to the communities where its customers and employees live and work. Since its founding in 1999, the Comcast foundation has distributed more than 450 million in support of programs implemented locally in Comcast communities.
Fellowship Farm is appreciative of this support from The Comcast Foundation.
